NSW: Junior sports people urge gov't to air ad on TV
Junior sports people say they want the NSW government to broadcast on television ..
a video on sports rage that highlights the so-called ugly parents syndrome.
But Premier MORRIS IEMMA's baulked at the question of the government paying .. to play
the 30-second video on mainstream TV.
Mr IEMMA says playing the video on big screens at the finals of major sporting codes
will have maximum impact.
He says lots of parents will be attending these events .. so it'll be seen by lots of people.
But sports administrators with Sydney's Balmain Junior Rugby League says it needs to
be seen in homes .. and that means airing it on television.
The video shows a parent abusing a referee .. and acting aggressively towards players
and other parents during a children's football game.
Then a large pacifier suddenly flies into his mouth with a voice over saying .. "Dummy
spits are for babies".
The video shows how embarrassing .. humiliating and hurtful it is for parents to abuse
players and match officials.
