NSW: $700 million project with Bulldogs will go ahead: council

A Sydney council has vowed its $700 million joint venture development with the BulldogsLeagues Club will go ahead, despite the football club's salary cap breaches.

Liverpool Council says there are issues to be resolved over the Oasis project whichincludes a football stadium, indoor basketball stadium, ice-rink, water park, 2,500 apartmentsand a club.

It says these include reports that Macquarie Bank is suing the council for $1.2 million,the role of businessman AL CONSTANTINIDIS in the project, and confirmation that the Bulldogshave overspent on their player salary cap by $1 million in the past two seasons.

The Bulldogs today apologised to the National Rugby League and their fans for spendingabove the salary cap.

But they say there are unspecified mitigating circumstances.
