Qld: Qld fruit and veg growers ask for federal govt assistance
Queensland fruit and vegetable producers hit by last week's storms are seeking federalgovernment assistance.
It's estimated more than $1 million in crops were destroyed in hail storms around theLockyer Valley and Wide Bay on Boxing Day.
The Queensland Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association is now investigating whethergrowers are eligible for the federal government's exceptional circumstances funding.
Chief executive JAN DAVIS says she'll meet with Primary Industries Minister HENRY PALASZCZUKthis week to see if the state government can also help.
She's told ABC radio many growers are going to need interest-free loans or other assistance.
